November 15 is America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day started in 1997. It is when communities throughout the nation come together to promote recycling programs and share recycling habits to family and friends. Find out an America Recycles Day event near you.

Organized by Keep America Beautiful (KAB.org), the theme for America Recycles Day 2010 is “I Recycle” and Americans are encouraged to pledge to recycle on November 15, share the importance of recycling with friends and coworkers and even start a new recycling habit for the other 364 days of the year.

Go to KAB.org to Take the America Recycle Day Pledge:

Making a commitment to recycling is a first simple step. A declaration to do more. Be sure to take the pledge, and share it with friends and family!

1) I pledge to find out what materials I can and cannot recycle in my curbside recycling program.

2) I pledge to lead by example in my place of work or school by recycling.

3) I pledge to recycle my used batteries, cell phones and other electronic waste through a take-back program or e-waste facility near me.

4) I pledge to tell five friends that recycling is one of the easiest things they can do to reduce their carbon emissions.

I have taken the pledge. You can too. Happy America Recycles Day!
