When you spend money on a beauty regime, it goes without saying that you want it to work. Coming from someone who has tried and tested almost every single ‘miracle’ cream or cleanser on the shelves, I understand the frustration of getting your hopes up, only for your new ‘miracle’ product to leave your skin in a worse state than when you started. So, what about Dermalogica – is it worth the money?
When I first started using Dermalogica, I was a bit apprehensive about spending that little bit more than I’m used to. But I had read such great things about it and had some good recommendations from reliable friends, so I thought I should give it a go. I’m glad I did because right from the start, it was a very smooth process. A Dermalogica trained therapist gave me a free skin care consultation to examine and understand every different part of my skin. From the T-Zone to the chin, nothing was treated as being the same. They called it ‘Face Mapping’ skin analysis and it allowed them to tailor a skin regime to my specific needs. I loved this as it made sure I got the right products for my skin. It’s not a one size fits all thing with skin so I hate it when you’re grouped into such a broad category that is not catering to your skin’s needs. But the Dermalogica advice I received after this consultation was spot on.
I’m happy to say that (with a bit of time and patience) I was very impressed with the difference in my skin. The products are not too harsh like some of the other ones I’ve tried out. Having very sensitive skin, it was important for me to find something that I can incorporate into my daily routine. I was sick and tired of using incredibly strong products to get rid of spots or blackheads quickly, whilst doing my poor skin more harm than good in the long-run. I wanted something that would not only make my skin look good from the outside, but also make it healthier and strong inside. I’m happy to say that Dermalogica does all this and so much more.
I believe that there’s no price for having good skin. Knowing how miserable and unconfident you can feel when your skin flares up, I have searched high and low for something to stop me feeling like I want to stay hidden under my duvet instead of going out with friends, on a date or even to work. So, Dermalogica is definitely worth the money. The only negative I had to say was that the packaging is very underwhelming. That was my initial thought anyway when I saw the plain white and grey bottles and tubes. But now, this judgement has totally changed as I’ve realised that it’s actually one of its greatest strengths. The simplicity of the packaging is due to Dermalogica not being like any other brand that needs any gimmicks, bright colours or illusions to hide behind. What’s inside the bottle is what counts as it is effective and gets the job done, leaving you with healthy and happy skin. At last.
