Top Eco Cars In The Market Today

Due to the astronomical prices of fuel these days many drivers heavily consider eco cars a viable alternative option. Many drivers who travel many miles know that a lot of money is spent on fuel and that makes hybrid cars an extremely attractive option.

In most cases the added upfront cost of an eco friendly car put many people off. However the savings that can be made from an eco friendly car pay off a lot in the long run. Savings include making your car exempt from road tax if it produces below 100g/km of C02. Below is a list of the elites within the eco car range. They offer the lowest amount of g/km and stand out above the rest of the field.

Toyota Prius

Known for many years as being one of the best eco friendly cars, it’s still here and still up there with the best. Improving year on year this car really has gone above and beyond the call of duty by pushing the boundaries of hybrid cars, and how fuel efficient they can be.

There are many different types of Prius including the Prius C, Prius V and Prius Liftback. However the one that stands out is the Prius Plug in. It’s just like a standard Prius except it has extra batteries that you can plug in. This means that you can get around for as little as 49g/km which is phenomenal. The electrical range of this car has been noted to be around 15 miles before the car resorts to its fuel supply.

Hyundai i20

As well as Toyota, Hyundai are well documented to make very fuel efficient cars. The Hyundai i20 is one of the top cars in this category and has been one of the revisions of the Hyundai Range. The three cylinder 1.1 diesel engine which is very efficient has propelled this car into the list of greats.

For 84g/km the Hyundai i20 offers a very reasonable price compared to other cars within the range as you can get it for around £12,000.

Peugeot 208 1.4 e-HDi 70 EGC

The Peugeot 208 1.4 e-HDi is one of the smallest cars in the Peugeot range but as well as that one of the most efficient as well. This car is in the ‘Band A’ emissions bracket emitting only 87g/km of C02 emissions. The fuel economy is top notch as well as it manages to do 83 miles per gallon. Since this car emits less than 100g/km it is free from road tax which is also another nice added perk of having a fuel efficient car.

Besides being very fuel efficient the Peugeot 208 1.4 e-HDi has an attractive design with its lifted front. It could be considered a supermini with the style of a sharp compact.

Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion

The Volkswagen brand has desperately been trying to find a green solution to their vast range of cars. The Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion was the answer to their problem. Doing a great 81 miles per gallon and emitting only 91g/km of C02 this car is up there with the most green hybrid cars.

Chevrolet Volt

Leaving this car off this list would be considered a sin so we’ve saved the best for last. Although this car is not cheap and is often found at around $35,000 in America. However the initial starting costs are worth it as it does an amazingly low emission of 27g/km of C02 emissions and 235 miles per gallon. This makes it one of the most eco friendly cars ever made!
