So your doctor has just laid the news on you and revealed that you are indeed suffering with kidney disease. You’re shaking with fear and have no idea what the future has in store for you, and whether or not you’ll ever be healthy again.
You begin talking to all these so called kidney disease specialists but no matter what they say, you feel completely hopeless. You just wish all these problems would go away and deep down you really hope that this is all a dream that you will wake up from very soon.
If you feel like this, then don’t worry because everyone who is diagnosed with some sort of disease will go through the very same phases. First you will deny it, then you will get really angry, after that you’ll experience a case of depression and then you’ll accept it as your new reality.
But while going through these stages is the norm, you need to make sure that you stay positive after you go through the initial stage of denial. The first reason being that it will help you stay mentally and physically fit but the biggest reason is that a positive mindset will make it infinitely easier to overcome kidney disease and get into great health!
There’s a ton of research out there which shows us that the mind has a very powerful affect on the body, especially in a physiological way.
And this is the very reason why it’s going to be in your interest to make sure that you remain positive no matter what obstacles you face. Because the better you feel the easier it’s going to be for you in the long run to make the right choices which will get you into great health.
You also don’t want to be one of those people that keeps switching from being positive one second and negative the next. This will totally wear you out in the long run which is definitely not good. Rather you should try your best to follow the tips below to maintain a positive state of mind at all times.
1. Your Personal Problems Are Your Greatest Assets
Let me tell you right now that any successful person out there that has achieved anything of significance has only done so after going through an intense period of hardship. This hardship has often been the driving force that has led to some of the greatest successes that people go onto achieve.
Your illness is no different to this. Having been diagnosed with kidney disease can mean that you’ll go on to live a healthy and fruitful life, like never before. There are many examples of people out there that have gone on to experience even better health and success as a result of their illness, and there’s no reason why you can’t do the same.
While not every single one of you is going to go on to experience amazing outward success, I can assure you that you’ll experience a positive change in your life if you seek it out. There are many people out there that start to appreciate life like never before, while others will start to value their personal relationships a whole lot more. Some of you might even garner an appreciation for your ability to overcome disease and live a healthy life.
So know that there is a blessing in every hardship, so take the time to really look deep within yourself to find the gold! It will be more than worth it.
2. Understand and Appreciate that All Great Things are Achieved in a Step by Step Fashion
Analyze the greatest things in the world and you’ll notice that they have all been done in a step by step fashion. Just take a look at the Great Wall of China, it wasn’t built overnight but rather it was the result of putting together one brick at a time.
However these days you’ll notice that most people out there give up well before they even get started. Most of the time it’s because they feel that what they are about to do is too hard to achieve.
But let me tell you this, nothing is hard. All you need to do is be fully committed and ready to put in the work, and soon enough it will become a walk in the park.
Just take it one baby step at a time, set goals and believe me before you know it you will end up achieving everything you have set out to achieve.
3. Ensure You Are Grateful All The Time
You really have to start being as grateful as possible for the things that you have been blessed with. This will ensure that you don’t fall into the trap of thinking about what you don’t have all the time.
The best way to ensure that you’re grateful every single day is to make sure that you create a habit out of it. A good way to do this is to start your day off by writing down all the things that you’re grateful for.
No matter what you think of, just write it down. It’s all great because it will help you feel better which is exactly what you want.
4. Exercise Often
It is an indisputable fact that the connection between the mind and the body is inseparable. The only way to have a healthy mind is to make sure that you have a healthy body, and the best way to achieve this is to make sure that you are exercising as often as you possibly can.
Just picture a dead corpse in your mind right now and you’ll probably see an image of a still, lifeless being that doesn’t move. Now think about a young child, who is running about full of energy. They are running, jumping and moving all the time.
Therefore you can say that the sheer act of moving is something that’s only associated with someone that is alive. The other great thing about exercise is that it results in your body producing endorphins which are essentially happy hormones that will destroy all that negative energy that has been built up inside you.
Now when it comes to which form of exercise you should be doing, I’d highly recommend that you stick to doing those exercises that you find extremely fun. Because only when you enjoy doing something will you continue to do it. Do an exercise which is really great for your health but you simply don’t enjoy and believe me you’ll give up on it within days.
So to find that exercise which you love, you’re going to want to literally try everything out there. Keep trying different sports until you find the one that you can see yourself doing every single day.
So those are my favorite tips that are sure to get you fired up and help you remain positive despite the fact that you’re suffering from kidney disease. Remember that having a positive mental attitude is the key to getting long term results that matter!
