Being environmentally friendly is much easier than you may think. In fact, some people think that it is too difficult, but, there are items around your home that can be recycled or reused to help you be eco-friendlier.
Environmentally friendly storage is a wonderful way to show everyone that you care about the world around while also making space in your home for the things that you need.
Of course, if you run out of room, you can always transport your items to a storage unit facility to keep them safe until you are ready to access them again.
Okay, ready to look at some eco-friendly solutions?
- Crates and Pallets
Did you know that you can usually get milk crates and pallets for free by simply talking to managers at stores? It is true and you know what? These options are eco-friendlier than purchasing plastic bins.
When it comes to these types of items, you can repurpose the pallets to provide you with a new round of home décor or you can use the crates to store items such as magazines, books, and similar.
- Tin Cans
Before you toss out those tin cans, think about ways you can use them around your home. Not sure of any ideas? Let’s think a little deeper. Okay, here’s one. Take off the label and then paint the tin can any color you like. You can then use it to store your Q-tips, cotton balls, or similar.
In addition, you can even drill a hole through the side and string a piece of yarn through the can to hang it up as a small planter.
- Bookshelf
If you have a bookshelf that is either falling apart or taking up too much room in your home, instead of tossing it out, repurpose it by painting or staining it and then hang it up on the wall. In fact, you can take a vertical bookshelf and hang it horizontally on the wall to provide additional room for you to use without taking up a bunch of floor space.
- Utensil Drawer Organizer
When you replace your utensil drawer organizer, do not toss out the old one. You can place it within your desk drawer and use it to organize some of your smaller items such as paper clips, pencils, white out, and similar items.
Turn Your Home into an Environmentally Friendly Space
Turning your home into an environmentally friendly space is not too difficult, which is good news for you. There are any items that you can easily turn into a storage space to help add additional room within your home. For example, you can always use old wipe containers to store craft supplies or pencils and pens.
If you find that you still need additional storage space even after you have rearranged and organized your home, consider renting a self-storage unit to protect your items and free up much needed space within your house.
