Amazing Home Remedies for Nosebleed

Nosebleed is simply the bleeding through blood vessels in the nose. This is usually very common due to many blood vessels in the nose. It is medically known as epistaxes and is commonly caused by the drying of the nose, picking the nose, frequent blowing of the nose, chemical irritation, high altitude, excessive heat, hormonal changes, nutrition deficiency etc.

Bleeding can last for a short period as few seconds or can go for more than ten minutes. In serious instances, below symptoms can accompany nose bleeding:

-Dizziness
-Weakness
-Confusion
-Fainting

Some wonderful and amazing home remedies to nosebleed include:

1. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is one of the most effective ways of stopping nose bleed faster. It helps the body by protecting it from excessive blood loss by healing the broken blood vessels. Place a small cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place it gently into the nostril. Leave it there for around ten minutes. Bleeding will stop. It can also be used for the prevention of frequent bleeding by drinking 2 teaspoons of raw cider vinegar mixed with warm water three times a day.

2. Pinch the nose
By pinching your nose, you are able to send pressure to the bleeding point which helps stop the bleeding. You sit up straight with the head tilted slightly forward. Pinch the soft part of the nose using the thumb and the index finger. This is done 5 to 10 times and during this time, a person is breathing through the nose.

3. Cold compress
This is a very common method of stopping a nosebleed. The cold temperature will cause the blood vessels to constrict stopping the bleeding. Wrap some ice cubes with a thin towel. Place the towel on the bridge of the nose for about 5 to 10 minutes.

4. Drinking enough water
Making sure that your mucous membrane is moist is a sure way of preventing a nosebleed. This can be achieved by drinking eight glasses of water a day. A well-hydrated nose is one of the surest ways of keeping away nosebleeding.

5. Onion
Onion is a very good clotting agent making it effective in stopping the bleeding from the nose. The fumes from the onion help in the clotting of the blood. You can drop a little onion juice in your nostrils. The bleeding should stop in a matter of minutes if not seconds.

6. Saline water
You can be able to deal with the dryness of the nasal membrane especially during winter by use of saline water. You can either use the saline nasal spray available in shops or mix some salt in water.

7. Steam
Steam is very effective in stopping nosebleed especially if a person suffers from chronic nose bleeds. Inhaling steam helps in keeping the nasal membrane moist all the time.

In conclusion, a nosebleed can easily be stopped at home. The method you decide to use will depend purely on the one which works best for you. Effective use of these remedies can go a long way in making sure that you don’t have any recurrent nosebleeds in future. It is, however, important to get medical advice for very frequent cases as there might be some underlying cause which may need medical advice from the doctor.
