The Real Cost of Bottled Water for You and The Environment

An easy way to go green is switching from disposable water bottles to reusable bottles. Making this choice is better for the environment, your body and your wallet.

Ninety percent of bottled water’s cost comes from making the bottle. In addition to the 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere every year, bottled water also takes 17 million barrels of oil to produce. By comparison, the same amount of oil could fuel 1.3 million cars a year or power 190,000 homes!

In terms of your body, disposable water bottles often contain chemicals that can cause reproductive issues, asthma and dizziness. Some studies even suggest a possible link to an increased risk of breast cancer.

Imagine all of the things you could do with an extra $1,800. That’s how much you could save in a year drinking tap water instead of disposable bottled water for the recommended amount of eight glasses of water a day.

There’s no denying disposable water bottles are convenient, but is it worth the risk they pose to the Earth and your health? A variety of bottles are available at Printwand, inc, all of them customizable. This means you can design them to fit your personality or (someone else’s if you are using the bottle as a gift).
