  1. Look for appliances that are energy-efficient – your appliances account for almost one-third of your expenses on electricity. If your appliances are due for replacement, make sure to do your research and look for appliances that are more energy efficient. If you have been using appliances that were made in the 1970’s, you’ll be delighted to know that the models being manufactured today consume more than 70% less electricity than the old models. You might think that you are spending more money because energy efficient appliances tend to be more expensive when you purchase it, but in the long run, you will find that it will save you more money.

  1. Use LED light bulbs instead – LED lights have been around for a while, but there are still some people who do not realize the importance of LED lights when it comes to energy conservation. Many households still use incandescent lighting, but did you know that switching to LED lights will mean that you will be using 75% less energy than before? Not only that, LED lights actually last 25 times longer than traditional lighting. The great thing about LED lights is that there are now so many varieties manufactured, giving owners plenty of choices for what they want to use for their homes or work spaces. You can put LED lights everywhere, from the kitchen to your office. You can even decorate your Christmas tree with LED lights!

  1. Control your home’s temperature practically – another way to conserve energy is to be picky when it comes to your home’s thermostat. Don’t just rely on it to make your home cooler or warmer. During the colder months, what you can do is close all your windows. You don’t need to set your thermostat too high because it will not make your house warm up faster. During the warm months, open all the windows instead and use natural light as often as possible.
