What is the Importance of Eating Green Leafy Vegetables for Being Fit?

When our Creator made the garden of Eden and placed Adam and Eve there, He instructed them that they are free to eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If we will carefully dissect the Lord’s instruction, He never instructed the first man to eat of any food in the garden but only of trees, those that grow out of the ground. He never allowed man to eat of meat whether red or white or of any crawling or walking animals. If He is the Creator of all things then He alone can provide the best diet reviews thus recommending us of what is best for our health.

Early people started surviving by eating from the plants or trees until they eventually learned how to eat, cook, roast, and fry fresh and preserved meat. As a rule of thumb, we are required to consume at least five servings of green leafy vegetables every day. This is due to the positive effects that follows:

Weight Loss – Since vegetables are rich in fiber and low in calories, they are very helpful in keeping us fit. It also creates the feeling of fullness and limits hunger episodes.

Cardio Effects – Vegetables are rich in folic acid, lutein, zeaxanthin and other phytochemicals that are best in decreasing the possibility of heart ailments. A study stated that an increase of one serving of green leafy vegetable every day causes a decrease of 11% to cardiovascular disorder. Another study with African-American subject showed less risk of mortality due toregular intake of leafy vegetables.

Antioxidant – Vitamin C, cartenoids, flavonoids are antioxidants that can help protect people from cancer. A study done in Sweden stated that eating green leafy vegetables at least 3 servings a day helped in reducing the risk of having stomach cancer. Foods that are rich in indoles and isothiocyanate like cabbage, cauliflower can help prevent colon cancer also.

Derma – lots of water can be found in green leafy vegetable thereby preventing dryness in the skin and hair.

Memory loss – Green leafy vegetables are rich in folic acid, which is also valuable in preventing memory loss benefitting people with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
